We have only 15,000lbs of halibut left to catch in 3B. It’s time to pack up the homestead for the winter, before we take the boat back towards Kodiak and on to Homer. It has seemed like a short summer – maybe because we’ve had such a good time on the back deck together. Days are getting chillier, and some mornings it feels like we can’t wear enough under our raingear to stay warm. We feel satisfied that this is our final boatload, though, to think that these hooks will be our last to bait and these halibut our last to clean.
