A Good Year

[caption id="attachment_399" align="alignleft" width="720"]Stonewall Place Stonewall Place[/caption] It has been an important year. We celebrated our first year anniversary as a small business in September. We spent our 8th summer fishing together as sisters on the Bering Sea. At Fish Expo, we were finally able to meet many of our own heroes and fans face-to-face. This fall we challenged ourselves by making customized boat shirts for vessel owners around Alaska and drew over 20 different boats. We sent more than 1,000 packages to Alaskan communities – from Barrow to Sand Point to Chickaloon. We feel like we’re starting to get the hang of this. Salmon Sisters has become a personal endeavor. We have integrated our business into our daily routine as if it were more a lifestyle than a job. With our minds, bodies, and souls, we celebrate some of our other accomplishments in 2013. Empowered Minds: • Emma graduated from Williams College in June, earning a double degree in English and studio art. • Claire took classes in Seattle for her US Coast Guard 6-Pack License. • Emma wrote an essay commissioned by The Salmon Project that will be published in the Alaska Dispatch this January, 2014. • Claire launched Morshovi Bay Fish Company—feeding over 100 families across the US with her CFS-style project. Challenged Bodies: • Claire ran her first marathon on Whidbey Island (without training for it)! • With her boat mates, Emma won the Williams crew team’s 9th consecutive NCAA Div. III Rowing title in Indianapolis. Satisfied Souls: • Claire and Emma spent summer months at their Aleutian Island homestead, Stonewall Place – hiking, smoking salmon with their mom, fishing with their dad, and playing on the beach with their husky puppy, Smokey. • The flexibility of running Salmon Sisters allowed for travels to places new and old. We ate cheese curds in the Midwest, walked the High Line in NYC, and planned a trip to New Zealand. Here we go 2014! Warm wishes, Emma Teal & Claire trappers2
