Sweet spring has come! We've been noticing the sunlight lasting longer and the scent of growth underfoot. More pickups are hauling nets around and more boats are being launched every day. We're working on designs for new products that are getting us pretty excited. When we say pretty excited, we mean incredibly excited; we're making new kid's zip-up hoodies, onesies, men's tees, crafting a new look for the ever popular Salmon Love Hoodie, introducing cute cropped tank tops, dresses for summer, and the biggest deal: the perfect hoodie, custom designed by Salmon Sisters (read: cowlneck, thumb holes, a long flattering fit, a big cozy hood!). We can't wait.
Since it's too hard to be inside on these sunny days, we've been getting out on adventures as much as we can before the season for boat work starts and trumps all other activities. Last week Claire joined photographer and surfer Scott Dickerson for a week-long surf trip outside of Seward with the Mountain Dew film crew on the Surf Alaska boat, the f/v Milo. She cooked Winter King for them and basically changed their lives forever. We drove from Homer to Talkeetna a few weekends ago for a ski race called the Oosik Classic, and wore Icelandic sweaters with friends the whole 25k! We did Homer's Sea to Ski triathlon, despite the absence of snow. For the first time in our family's history we are the proud owners of a skiff that's meant purely for recreational purposes, so we've been enjoying the beauty of our local Kachemak Bay and it's coves and islands and beaches. We went climbing and paddle boarding across the bay on a sunny day last week, and we've had three barbecues in the past week where Winter King Salmon, moose steaks, and Kodiak deer ribs were the main affair. Emma is off to Kodiak this week and Claire to Petersburg because our main men are finally home from a long winter cod fishing near Dutch Harbor, and we feel lucky to be looking forward to a long summer in Prince William Sound tendering and seining with them!
Here are a few photos of these adventures..
Let's have some more!
The perfect sweater sounds… Quite perfect indeed!
