SKHOOP x Salmon Sisters - Sockeye Original Skirt (Black)

Ordered this for myself to wear on morning walks this winter. It’s easy to get on and off and generally more comfortable and less bulky than my ski pants. Walking is easier without the layers around my legs. It kept me toasty and the wind out in 7*F. For the purpose it’s perfect and exactly what I wanted.

However, the sizing is super confusing! I suspect it’s because of the fit (explanation below.) I read the reviews on Skhoop’s website that conveniently list heights and weights, watched the YouTube video, read the blog etc. I am 5’ 4” and 143lbs with long legs and a large frame. I originally ordered the Large because my measurements are at the upper end of a medium on the size chart. Add in a good winter base layer and I thought sizing up would work best. Note- most reviews on the Skhoop site also size up from their usual size.

This did not work! The skirt barely stayed on. The length was dragging on the floor despite my 35” inseam. The skirt sat at my hips but was so loose it was like wearing a sleeping bag. Walking became cumbersome and difficult in snow. I returned the large. Priority flat rate with free shipping on the replacement order (just add some tea;) and it was worth it. However… the medium I received is a bit tight! If I had received it first, I would have sized up. Can’t win here!

I think the issue is the fit. Look closely in the videos- the skirt is worn at or even slightly above your natural waist. The skirt also needs to be tighter/more fitted to avoid a belly poof. This is awkward on my short torso (it’s one inch under my breasts) but also necessary so the skirt’s weight doesn’t pull itself down. Even being within the size range on the chart, I have to be careful or the skirt pulls to the back and is too tight to sit down. I also need both sides slightly unzipped walk comfortably with my long legs. The medium isn’t bulky and fits more comfortably overall, but I can’t pull off the carefree movements like the gals in the adds. I’m keeping the medium and will likely order another style, but be mindful of how it will sit on your body.

So comfortable. Love how easy it is to layer when needed and take off when not needed. Great quality and shipped fast even during the holiday buying season. The inner layer Salmon Sisters design gives it a unique look.

I LOVE THIS SKIRT!!!! I love the quality, the colorful lining, the longer length, and the zipper is sturdy. I am usually an 8 or 10--depends on the maker--and I bought a large because I'll be wearing a lot underneath. It fits nicely, with room to spare (that was the intention). IF I felt like looking sleeker, I suppose the medium would have worked, but I like the "buoy room," as I seem to not be getting any smaller. I'm a very happy customer!!!
