Thriving in Winter is a six part blog series featuring seasonal traditions and recipes from The Salmon Sisters: Harvest & Heritage to inspire the darkest days of the year.
--
We're heading into a week of cold weather here in Homer, and are counting on tasty warming food and joyful decor to bring the light as we head into the darkest few weeks of the year before winter solstice. Our trees are up, the lights are a'twinkling, and we just started our paperwhite bulbs so they'll get growing in time to bloom around Christmas and make the house smell so wonderful. We've also been enjoying some of the tasty seafood we put away in the freezer at the end of the summer, including prawns from Prince William Sound! We made some Garlic-Butter Spot Prawn Noodles that are super simple and saucy in all the right ways.
We hope you are having a happy December and creating some special winter traditions and memories with your friends and family. It's easy to get swept up in everyone else's holiday plans, which is why we really hope these blog posts help you slow down a bit and do something that brings you light and joy in this season. Love to you and yours!

A few odds & ends:
Something to keep in your back pocket (or freezer):
Some fishing friends came over recently and cooked some delicious miso-marinated black cod, which they bought from Costco! It was so tasty, and would make the perfect easy holiday meal that's guaranteed to turn out great and impress your guests.

We are very proud to be donating over 40 fillets of wild salmon to our local food pantry for the holiday season. Thank you for helping us make it happen with your holidays orders.
